Andy Rice

I enjoy developing novel ideas and seeing them used by lots of people. I am comfortable in the messy boundary between exploratory research and production engineering, and I like to pull things through it. This goes from experimentation through to building the engineering platform and organization required to support users at scale.

Alongside the technical challenges, I am most satisfied building high-agency teams, working with exceptional people, and learning from them.

Currently Head of Engineering at XBOW and Bye-Fellow in Computer Science at Queens' College.

Previously Professor of Computer Science at the University of Cambridge, Official Fellow at Queens' College, Principal Researcher at GitHub Next, Visiting Researcher at Google, and Non-Executive Director at The Cambridge Building Society.
